V.S. on 1st January 2007 at 3:55pmLast week we dined at Zazio`s for the third time, in about eight months. Still excellent food, drinks and atmosphere, but service is lacking. I echo other reviewers comments on servers, who`s knowledge is lacking. Zazio`s reservation policy is still sketchy. Something about taking reservations for x% of the dining room, then the remainder for walk-ins. I could have done without the construction noise coming from the wall directly behind our booth. Also, a bit more pricey than indicated here on this web site. Small portions for the elevated prices.
Laura E on 1st January 2007 at 3:55pmService??? I`m sorry, did you expect service? Yeah, not so much. And please do not demand knowledgeable service - this will leave you disappointed. I happen to know they have excellent wines, but your server won`t know. Food is good, but if they had to compete with any restaurant in Little Italy, they`d be eliminated based on horrendously high prices and horrendous service. I feel sorry for the chef - all that work to make fabulous food, only to have everything else at Zazios working against him.
Bridget Fleck on 1st January 2007 at 3:55pmGreat Restraunt, food was very very very good.
Donald Isrussi on 1st January 2007 at 3:55pmWhat can I say, all that dynamite and such a short fuse. I vistited last month twice and must say that the atmosphere is very cosmopolitan looking. The Martinis are very good. The wine pricy. The service? well, lets see, I don`t remember any service. it was slow and the young waiters are mostly college students with little knowledge of Italian Cuisine. i am an Italian American who`s parents came to the USA from Napoli. I grew up in NYC in Little italia. I am still not sure what Modern Italian means. I think it means small portions at expensive prices. Give me a good down to earth Italiano Ristorante where the pasta is piled on and the cheese is overflowing and they grate the cheese at your table, a place where a real Italiano sincerely asks what you think of their food and you hear people yell, mangia. Zazios is a fair restaurant with an expensive motif. The chef does put on cooking classes which looks interesting. A small town version of Emeril, without the Bam That si the main problem with zazios, No BAM
JK on 1st January 2007 at 3:55pmThe service here is a little cheesy and insincere. Our waitress didn`t know the bar`s single malt scotches and after pointing out my companion`s missing salad said "oh, i didnt even hear you" when they had a conversation about the anchovy. The food redeemed the service. interesting and creative dishes but they didn`t forget the staples like spaghetti and lasagne. Calamari is delicious but I can`t say the same for the polenta and sausage. I swear someone grabbed a box of Stove Top to make the polenta. The atmosphere is great with no place in town to compare. Any fears of downtown parking are calmed with complimentary valet, just pull up to the front of the Radisson. Be sure to tip the valets.
